Physical Activity Counselling for students
Available appointments can be booked from 26 August onwards.
Would you like to improve your wellbeing through physical activity? Do you want to be more active in your daily life but are not sure where or how to start? Would you like support in making lifestyle changes?
Physical Activity Counselling is a free service for students of the University of Oulu and Oulu University of Applied Sciences. The service helps you improve your physical activity, health, and wellbeing in a way that suits your own situation and goals.
The service is free of charge and does not require a UniMove membership.
Physical Activity Counselling is open to all students, regardless of fitness level or previous experience with exercise. You do not need to know where to start. Together, we will find practical ways to help you become more active and support your wellbeing.
Physical Activity Counselling is for you if you:
- want to become more physically active
- would like to add more movement to your daily life
- need support and motivation to get started
- are looking for a form of physical activity that suits you
- want to improve your wellbeing and energy levels
- would like a better balance between physical activity, recovery, studies, and everyday life
What happens during a counselling session?
During the session, we will talk about your current situation, goals, and daily life. We can discuss topics such as physical activity and exercise, wellbeing and recovery, sleep, nutrition, energy levels, stress and workload. All discussions during counselling sessions are confidential.
Together with the Physical Activity Counsellor, you will create a personal plan that supports your goals and fits your everyday life.
The service is provided by Mia Tervo, Physiotherapist and Physical Activity Counsellor.
You can book a single appointment or several follow-up sessions, depending on your needs.
How it works:
1. Book an appointment
Book an appointment at the Linnanmaa campus using the booking calendar below.
If you would prefer an online appointment, please contact mia.tervo@oulu.fi.
2. First meeting
We will discuss your situation, goals, and wishes. Together, we will find practical ways to support your wellbeing and increase physical activity in your daily life.
3. Follow-up meetings (optional)
One meeting may be enough, but if needed, we can arrange follow-up sessions. The number of sessions always depends on your individual needs.
4. Review and future plans
At the end of the counselling process, we will review your progress and discuss how you can continue supporting your wellbeing in the future.
