Instructed classes

We offer a wide and diverse range of different muscle fitness classes, body and mind classes, dance and other aerobic classes, and martial arts classes. Over 50 classes per week - something for everyone!

Read more about registration procedures. Classes are organized both in Linnanmaa and in the Oulu city center area. Discover our sports facilities. The range of guided exercise classes is limited in May-August and during Christmas.

Class descriptions

Adult ballet: The adult ballet includes practicing classical ballet techniques, which help improve coordination, body control and balance. The classes include both technique exercises in place and choreographic dance exercises. This class is suitable for you if you want to dance adult ballet as a new hobby, or if you want to work on the basic techniques.

Balance: Balance class improves recovery, mobility and body control. Class includes different mobility exercises, such as dynamic and static stretches, and involves activating the core muscles. Different equipment can be used to aid body maintenance in the classes. Suitable for everyone.

Balance & Stretching​​​​​​​: During the class, the body is taken care of at a calm pace, alternating between dynamic mobility movements and long opening stretches. You don't have to keep up with the rhythm, because everyone does the movements at their own pace, deepening body awareness and breathing. The themes of the class take into account the needs of both active and sedentary workers. At the end of the class, a short guided final relaxation. This class takes care of both body and mind.

Barre: A body care class that strengthens the legs, buttocks and middle body, after which you will feel fit and strong. The exercises of this class have been inspired by the world of ballet, pilates and yoga and they are done next to the pole familiar from ballet and at floor level with body weight and using small equipment. There are no choreographies, jumps or cross-the-hall exercises in the barre class. The class is suitable for both active exercisers and beginners.

Body shaping: At the beginning there is about 10 minutes of aerobic activity on a step board. After this, we continue with a muscle conditioning section, focusing on strengthening the thigh, arm, abdominal, back and gluteal muscles using weights and rubber bands.

Brasil-afrodance: Dance class consist of African rhythms. Soft afro movements remove stiffness of the back, shoulders and chest. The goal is to enjoy the joy and energy of dancing, and at the same time improve fitness.This class is suitable for everyone interested in dance.

Commercial dance: Commercial Dance is a dance class that combines techniques from different dances (e.g. street, heels) and seeks a bold attitude in the spirit of music videos. During the classes, we throw ourselves into different styles of choreography and have fun together!

Dancemix: In Dancemix classes, you learn the basics of numerous dance genres in a relaxed atmosphere and through fun. You can participate in the class with a low threshold without any previous dance background. If you are interested in learning hip-hop dance, show dance, contemporary dance and many other genres and want to come and have fun, this class is just for you!

Energizing morning yoga: An energizing yoga class will help you to gain energy into your body through breathing, flowing movement and strengthening asanas. The class will begin and end with a breathing exercise/relaxation.

Fitness boxing: Open fitness boxing shift for all, previous experience is not required. The class include warm-up, bag and pairs training, muscle fitness sections and stretching. This class is suitable for everyone, no previous experience needed. Boxing gloves are provided by the instructors.

Functional circuit: A versatile full-body functional training class that is suitable for everyone, regardless of fitness level. After the warm-up part, simple and versatile exercises are performed that develop and maintain muscle condition, endurance, balance and mobility. The class uses different equipment (e.g. dumbbells, kettlebell) and your own body weight. Movements are done against time, each according to their own condition. The fitness circuit does not include any choreography. Stretching at the end of the class.

Functional training: Functional training is versatile training of your body. Functional training includes mobility, muscle fitness and heart rate exercises. We also learn the movement techniques of basic movements. You don't have to have a background in functional training, the class is suitable from beginners to more experienced trainers.

GymCircuit: A versatile full-body workout in the gym, where muscle fitness training is done as circuit training. It is easy to adjust the pace and effectiveness of the movements, so the class is suitable for everyone.

Indoor cycling: Indoor cycling is a simple and efficient endurance workout. You can increase and decrease the tension of the bike; this is similar to riding up and down a hill. The instructor will show you how to adjust your bike in the beginning of the class. Suitable for both beginners and more experienced cyclists. Take shoes, towel and water bottle with you.

Kettlebell: Kettlebell is an effective and versatile muscle training workout. Training takes place with different weight kettlebells, which are selected according to your starting level. Kettlebell training trains the whole body and raises the heart rate. The instructor will guide you through the right technique, so you don’t need previous kettlebell experience.

LatinDance: Latin dance is ​​relaxed and fun dancing with easy choreography. Samba, salsa, cha cha, reggaeton and jive will become familiar during the class. You don't need a previous dance background. Take shoes, towel and water bottle with you.

Les Mills Bodyattack™: BODYATTACK™ is a high-energy fitness class with moves that cater for total beginners to total addicts. We combine athletic movements like running, lunging and jumping with strength exercises such as push-ups and squats. A LES MILLS™ instructor will pump out energizing tunes and lead you through the workout. Take shoes, towel and water bottle with you.

Les Mills Bodybalance™: Ideal for anyone and everyone, BODYBALANCE™ is a new generation yoga class that will improve your mind, your body and your life. You can expect to bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves, elements of Tai Chi and Pilates while an inspiring soundtrack plays in the background. Breathing control is a part of all the exercises, and instructors will always provide options for those just getting started.

Les Mills Bodycombat™: This high-energy martial-arts inspired workout is totally non-contact and there are no complex moves to master. A LES MILLS™ instructor will challenge you to up the intensity and motivate you to make the most of every round. You’ll release stress, have a blast and feel like a champ.

Les Mills Bodypump™: BODYPUMP™ is a muscle training class in which you train your whole body using barbells. The class develops your muscle endurance through carrying out many repetitions with the same muscle group.

Les Mills Bodystep™: Basic stepping, just like walking up and down stairs, is at the heart of BODYSTEP™ – a full-body cardio workout to really tone your butt and thighs. In a BODYSTEP workout you can expect a mixture of upbeat, rhythmic stepping, with squat and lunge patterns to work the legs. Combine this with movements like burpees, push ups and weight plate exercises, and the result is a fun, uplifting, full-body workout! Don’t worry, there’s heaps of options so that everyone leaves feeling successful.

​​​​​​​Les Mills RPM™: RPM™ is a world-leading, cardio peak cycle workout using simulated climbs and sprints to improve cardio fitness. With great music pumping and the group spinning as one, you repeatedly reach your cardio peak and then ease back down, keeping pace with the pack to lift personal performance and boost cardio fitness.

Les Mills Sprint™: LES MILLS SPRINT is a 30-minute High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout, using an indoor bike to achieve fast results. It’s a short, intense style of training where the thrill and motivation comes from pushing your physical and mental limits. A high intensity, low impact workout, it's scientifically proven to return rapid results.

Mobility training: Mobility is the body's ability to move freely throughout the range of motion of the joints and muscles. The class improves the body's range of motion, flexibility and joint mobility. The lesson includes rotations, dynamic movements and stretching. Come to class in flexible clothes. Bring a water bottle. You do not need shoes for this class.

Pilates: Pilates is a low-impact class with movements that strengthen the whole body, but focus on deep core muscles. Pilates exercises improve posture and mobility. Easy and efficient movements done in the rhythm of breathing are suitable for all regardless of fitness level. You don't need shoes in this class.

Power stretching: The class starts with a gentle warm-up of the muscles, after which we do e.g. balance exercises that strengthen the body and mind, and the whole body is stretched using different stretching techniques. Power stretching increases mobility, strengthens the muscles of the middle body, develops posture, improves sleep quality and calms the mind. Suitable for everyone as effective body care. Overall good feeling.

Restorative yoga: This class will help you calm down with the restorative movements of yoga, releasing tension in your body. Lots of twists and rolls. This class will also give your mind a moment of rest. Suitable for everyone.

RPV: Thighs-Buttocks-Abdomen is a muscle fitness class that focuses on strengthening the middle and lower body, effectively shaping the muscles of the legs, buttocks and core using your own body weight and various additional weights. The class is medium in intensity, but it is also suitable for beginners.

Superbody: This class focuses on toning and shaping the whole body using dumbbells, a step board and pump bars. In addition, aerobic fitness is developed by loading several muscle groups at the same time. You can easily adjust the power of the lesson by, for example, changing the weights. Does not include jumps or difficult sets of steps. A fun and sweaty workout!

Total training: As the name suggests, total training is training for the whole body. The class is a training consisting of blocks, where you go through the entire body's muscle groups using dumbbells. The work is done against time. You can easily do the workout according to your fitness level, so the class is suitable for everyone. The heart rate rises and the sweat comes!

UniPower: A versatile whole-body muscle fitness class, where after the warm-up, the muscles of the upper, lower and middle body get to work! Various equipment and body weight are used in the class. Movements and intensity can be easily adjusted, so the class is suitable for everyone.

Yin jooga: Yin yoga is a slow-paced, gentle yoga style where you pause for long time in asanas. Yin yoga calms the nervous system, body and mind. It reduces stress and anxiety, increases awareness and improves mobility. The classes also include short pranayama exercises, i.e. breathing exercises to enhance the theme of the class, as well as final relaxation. The theme of the Yin yoga classes changes weekly. The class is suitable for everyone.

Yin yoga & sound meditation: The class combines wonderfully gentle and body-opening yin yoga with the sounds of singing bowls. Through gentle slowing down, deep breathing and the vibration of singing bowls, you can simply immerse yourself in being - taking care of both body and mind. In yin yoga, we stop for a longer time to breathe in the asanas, which frees up space in the body and mind. A breathing exercise/relaxation is done at the beginning and end of the class.

Yoga-pilates: Yoga-pilates is a gentle but effective combination of yoga that improves body mobility and pilates that strengthens the core muscles of the middle body. The classes focus on developing the mobility of muscles and joints with calm exercises, and strengthen the core muscles. The class does not contain difficult movements, so it is suitable for everyone!

Zumba®: Zumba® class is designed to bring people together to sweat it on. Exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired dance fitness class for everybody. Class is a mix of low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style dance fitness party.


MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES:

Boxing: A classic martial art that focuses on accuracy, speed, footwork and body control. During training, you will develop fitness, coordination and reaction skills – while learning to defend yourself and control the situation confidently. During training, you will learn striking techniques and body movement, footwork and fighting positions, defense and reflex development, as well as physical and mental endurance. Boxing is suitable for everyone – both fitness enthusiasts and martial arts enthusiasts, regardless of age and background.

Grappling: Grappling is a martial art in which the aim is to defeat the opponent by controlling and ending the match with various grappling and choke holds. Vertical grappling quickly leads to takedown attempts, after which the fight continues on the mat with technical wrestling and takedown attempts. In the exercises, you will learn effective takedowns, grappling and choke holds, body control and controlling the opponent, as well as calm mental control in a physical situation. The sport also develops strength, mobility and problem-solving skills. It is excellent for both beginners and experienced fighters.

Mixed martial arts (MMA): A versatile martial art that combines elements of stand-up and mat fighting. The sport utilizes techniques from boxing, kickboxing, grappling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu – all combined into a functional whole. MMA develops full-body strength, endurance, reaction ability and self-confidence. During training, you will learn striking and kicking techniques, takedowns and defense, the basics of grappling and mat fighting, as well as match strategy and fight control. Mixed martial arts is suitable for anyone who wants to challenge themselves in a variety of ways – whether you are a beginner or an experienced trainer.

Thaiboxing: An effective standing combat sport, also called the "fight of eight limbs" – it uses fists, elbows, knees and kicks. The sport develops the whole body, improves endurance and strengthens self-confidence. During the exercises, you will learn striking and kicking techniques, knee and elbow strikes, control of clinch or close combat situations, as well as physical fitness, balance and self-confidence. Muay Thai is suitable for both beginners and experienced trainers – and offers an excellent workout for the body and mind.
