Physical activity counseling

Physical activity counseling is now open for appointment bookings.

Would you like to improve your well-being through physical activity? Do you want more physical activity in your everyday life, but you don't know where and how to start? Do you already have an idea of the type of activity you would like to do, but lack concrete means to go forward?

UniMove's physical activity counseling is aimed at students of the University of Oulu and Oulu University of Applied Sciences, who are motivated to increase physical activity in their everyday lives in order to feel better and stay healthy. Physical activity counseling is free of charge and does not require a UniMove membership. To make an appointment for physical activity counseling, please use the appointment calendar below. You can book an appointment for physical activity counseling for example if:

  • you want support in getting started with physical activities
  • you need individual guidance to find a suitable form of exercise
  • you need ways to make exercise a regular part of everyday life
  • you need to find balance between current physical activities and/or other daily routines

Physical activity counseling can take the form of a single visit or a process of several visits.

The Physical Activity Counselling Process

  1. Booking an appointment: Students book their appointment for physical activity counselling through the online calendar.
  2. First session: You’ll go through your current situation, discuss your needs, and set personal goals together with the counsellor. If one session is enough, you can contact the counsellor again later if needed. If necessary, the process continues with 1–3 follow-up sessions to provide ongoing support
  3. Final session: You’ll review how your goals were achieved and make a plan for continuing independently.
  4. Afterwards: Students can contact the counsellor again whenever they feel they need support.


Appointment instructions

1. Physical activity counseling is generally available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Book an appointment from the calendar. The consultation duration is 45 minutes.
2. Mark your appointment in your diary, as no further reminders will be sent.
3. If you need to cancel your appointment, you can do so yourself in the "Reservations" section of the appointment calendar.
4. Arrive at the waiting room KK237 (Linnanmaa Campus, Virransilta 2 floor) for your exercise counseling. The best way to find your way is to go to https://link.mazemap.com/wio2CpF4. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early for the counseling so that you have time to fill out the preliminary information form, which is on the table in the lobby.
