Liikkuva opiskelu (Students on the Move)

Liikkuva opiskelu is a national program that aims to increase physical activity and learning ability in secondary schools and universities. Oamk and the University of Oulu are involved in Liikkuva opiskelu program.

University students spend an average of 11 hours a day sitting. Prolonged sitting and other sedentary behavior is an independent health risk, even if physical activity recommendations are met. Breaking up sedentary behavior is important not only for health, but also for learning. Promoting physical activity during the study day can also improve cognitive skills that are essential for learning, such as attention, memory, and executive function. Physical activity can be incorporated into the study day in many ways. Here you will find tips for promoting activity and learning.
